Donald Dunbar is thrilled when, for his birthday, his mother
takes him and his friend Matt to San Diego-and only a little
bit irked that his sister Susan goes along, too. During their
stay at the hotel, they meet a new friend, Hector, who has unexplained
bumps and bruises. The Flying Fingers Club sleuths find themselves
in action again when the boys witness the theft of rare cockatoos
from the San Diego Zoo. Donald and Matt trail the robbers, only
to be captured and left stranded in Mexico. In the meantime,
Susan begins to piece together some startling conclusions about
Hector. Hasta Luego is a rollicking tale of intrigue that again
shows shrewd thinking by Donald, who has trouble learning in
school. Matt, who is deaf, and Susan, who convinces Hector that
on one should be hurting him, especially at home. |

Matt, who is deaf and age 10, Donald also age 10, and Susan
age 11 are on to another adventure. The Flying Fingers Club
join Matt Morrissey's family, Matt's two year old sister, Jessie
and their pet dog, Moxie as they go back to the Kansas School
for the Deaf for a reunion on a trip in a motor home. At KSD
they explore the dormitory attic where they learn about a mysterious
ghost that lives there. In the tunnels of KSD, they find a silver
pitcher antique and encounter some strange ghosts and happenings
along the way. Join the adventure and read this excerpt.
"A ghost-like figure shot up from sitting on the side of the
tunnel at the entrance of the storage room. His face was gleaming
white and he wore a dirty, tattered blue soldier's uniform.
In the dark, the boys could see his large bony hands.
"I've been waiting for you," said the ghost. He made some eerie,
guttural sounds as if he was choking.
Matt turned to Donald but Donald was too frightened to interpret
in sign language to his deaf friend what the ghost had said.
The ghost picked up his rife and aimed at the boys.
"This pitcher is mine and I've come back to claim it." The ghost's
teeth began to chatter and he made guttural sounds again. The
ghost aimed his gun over the boys' heads.
"POW!" The gun exploded and the tunnel filled up with smoke
and the smell of gunpowder." |
