New Walk-in Coolers

The Sabine Area Restaurant Association (SARA) generously donated a walk-in refrigerator and a walk-in freezer to the FCSC department.  “The walk-in coolers are a wonderful addition to the program and we are very grateful to SARA for the gift” said Chef Charles Duit, adjunct professor.

Fun and Fashion in Dallas

The weekend of March 9, 2001, Anita Devillier, instructor of Fashion Retailing and Merchandising; Sherry Batson,  adjunct instructor; and nine students from Devillier’s class took a trip to  Dallas.  Over the course of two days students attended a series of professional workshops and seminars, a career fair, and a fashion show.  The fashion show opened with designs by Michael Faircloth, who is the designer for First Lady Laura Bush.  Other highlights of the trip included visits to the International World Trade Center, J.C. Penney Corporate Headquarters, and Gerber Garment Technology, Inc.  The students gained first-hand insight into the fashion world and brought back new ideas for future courses.
